Animica Internet — a browser for the .anm web

A standalone desktop browser that speaks only .anm — the on-chain web registered on Animica. No clearnet, no DNS, no trackers: every site you visit resolves through the Animica name registry. A wallet is built in, so reserving a name, paying in ANM, and publishing your own site is one click away.

anm://your-name.anm

macOS: the build is unsigned — right-click the app and choose Open the first time.  Linux: it’s an AppImage — chmod +x animica-internet-linux-x86_64.AppImage then run it (self-contained; Python + Qt bundled).

What is it?

What is the Animica Internet?

The Animica Internet is a parallel web that lives on the Animica chain. Instead of DNS and certificate authorities, names ending in .anm are reserved directly on the Animica name registry — owned by your wallet key, paid for in ANM, and resolvable by anyone running the browser. Sites are served by their owners and discovered through the registry, so there is no registrar, no renewal middleman, and no takedown by a hosting company.

Animica Internet is the front door: a purpose-built desktop browser that renders anm:// pages and nothing else. Because it never touches the clearnet, there are no ad networks, no cross-site trackers, and no surprise redirects — just the .anm web.

[ anm:// ]

.anm-only browsing

The address bar accepts only anm:// names from the Animica registry. Clearnet URLs are refused by design — the browser has no route to the ordinary internet.

[ wallet ]

Built-in ANM wallet

A native Animica wallet ships inside the app. Create or import keys, hold ANM, and sign registry transactions without leaving the browser.

[ reserve ]

Name reservation

Pick a .anm name and reserve it on-chain, paying in ANM from the built-in wallet. The name is yours — bound to your key, not to a registrar.

[ publish ]

One-click publish & serve

Point the app at a folder and hit publish: it serves your site to the .anm network under your reserved name. No hosting account, no upload pipeline — your machine is the host.

Get started

From download to your own .anm site

  1. Download the app for your OS above and launch it.
  2. Create (or import) a wallet in the built-in wallet panel and fund it with a little ANM.
  3. Browse: type any registered name, e.g. anm://animica.anm.
  4. Reserve your own name — the app walks you through the registry payment.
  5. Publish: choose a local folder and serve it under your name with one click.
Prefer to stay in Chrome? The Animica browser extension still exists and still works — it resolves .anm names from inside Chrome for casual visits. The desktop app is the full experience (wallet, reservation, publishing), but the extension remains available for Chrome users who just want to read .anm sites.
